Join our online peer support groups for mental health on Zoom!
The biweekly meetings for our support groups are moving to an online platform whilst we await confirmation we can meet safely in person. Lighter Minds MK (Milton Keynes) and Lighter Minds GM (Stockport, Greater Manchester) will be running on the below dates for the first time via ZOOM. Sessions will be online only until further notice.
JULY 03rd 2020 at 7:00 PM
Who runs the online sessions?
Charlotte Appleby, co-founder of Lighter Minds, runs the online support networks. She has previously led peer support groups in Milton Keynes and, now, Stockport.
What are the online meetings like?
At the moment, we are trialling our peer support groups for 40 minute meetings. We chat informally about our mental health, only sharing experiences we feel comfortable with, ask questions and share coping strategies with like minded people.
When are the online meetings?
The first zoom meetings will be held end of 29th June 2020 and on 03rd July 2020 for a meet and greet at 7.00 PM (check the above specified locations for the days).
How do I access zoom and is it free?
ZOOM provides videotelephony and online chat services through a cloud-based peer-to-peer software platform. We can meet for 40 minutes with up to 100 people in one meeting. You can create an account for free at https://zoom.us/ and either download the zoom app or use it on your internet browser only.
Where are the support group sessions in person?
We have a support group in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire and another in Stockport, Greater Manchester. If our online mental health support groups are successful and we get a high demand, these will continue as online groups after lockdown ends.
